Expertise of the Environmental Consulting Group Mission The Environmental Consulting Group was founded to help airports, airlines, and others in the aviation industry meet increasing demand for their services in the face of growing social and environmental constraints. Capabilities The Environmental Consulting Group, Inc. (ECG) has worked exclusively on aviation environmental issues since it’s founding in 2000. The company’s primary clients over the past few years have been US FAA’s Office of Environment and Energy, several of the largest US commercial service airports, ICAO, and ACRP. ECG is based in Annapolis, MD. Representative projects include: ·      Technical Leadership and Coordination – ECG provides leadership and coordination for several technical activities and collaborations. Sandy Webb, ECG Managing Director, has provided technical and administrative support to the Aircraft Emissions Characterization (AEC) Roadmap and its predecessor organization for the past seven years. The AEC Roadmap is a unified regulatory R&D roadmap for understanding and quantifying aircraft particulate emissions and serves as a clearinghouse for aviation emissions research. FAA, NASA, DOD, and EPA cooperatively sponsor the roadmap in collaboration with manufacturers, airports, airlines, and other stakeholders. He serves as the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Research Focal Point on Alternative Fuels. Also, Mr. Webb recently served as Assistant Secretary for ICAO's Conference on Aviation and Alternative Fuels in Rio de Janeiro. ·      Green Airport Initiative – Sandy Webb is the technical lead for the Green Airport Initiative (GAI). In addition to quantifying emissions and identifying priority mitigation strategies, the GAI is designed to help airports achieve quick and measurable benefits in environmental quality and energy savings overall and strengthen relationships with neighboring communities. It emphasizes the implementation of proven technologies and operational practices that are tailored to the needs of the airport. The product of an airport study is a comprehensive emissions inventory and an evaluation of an airport’s performance with recommendations for adopting new technologies, operational plans, and management practices to set the airport on a sustainable trajectory. In the past five years, GAI studies have been completed for Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport (DFW), Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). GAI studies of O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Chicago Midway Airport (MDW), and the O’Hare Modernization Program (OMP) have recently been initiated. ·      Handbooks and Guidebooks – The Environmental Consulting Group is recognized for its ability to assess complicated technical issues and explain them in clear, concise language to a broad non-technical audience.
